What went down
After absinthe shots on the first crew night out (ep 2), Gary and his deckhand Sydney hooked up in a guest cabin, then downplayed it as a 'cheeky kiss' (ep 3). Gary friend-zoned her after a night of spooning in ep 4, but Sydney admitted she really liked him and ended up in his bed after the ep 6-7 skinny dip. When Alli pumped the brakes on Gary in ep 14, he flirted with Sydney again, leading to the topless hot-tub scene that blew up in ep 15.
How it landed
At the reunion both called it a drunken hookup, and Alli revealed Gary had a girlfriend at the time; Sydney said she was dating someone new.
