What went down
Ben stepped aboard in ep 10 saying he and Kate were past last season's animosity; she was thrilled but unsure where they stood. Amy called their galley sniping in ep 11 'sexual tension,' and both discussed when they last hooked up. In ep 12 they talked families and futures, and in ep 13 they agreed they weren't right for each other but weren't ready to walk away.
How it landed
At the reunion they called their fling 'checking off a box' and agreed they're better as friends; Kate later joked on WWHL (2019) that they had slept together.
